The day after the news, our staff team was scheduled to head to ATL for the Catalyst Conference. We went. It was right. I don't think that I will even attempt to type what the
time meant to me and to our team. A few random thoughts might be enough..... it is so fresh to hang out with people that you do ministry with. I love that I love our team. It is utterly amazing to sit with 12,000 leaders of this movement called the Kingdom of God and to rend our hearts toward heaven.... it's good to fill our minds and our hearts with anticipatory longing for His church called Emmanuel.... it's good to meet a guy named Chuck and get to spend two days worshipping with him and to hear his heart for families... it's good to laugh, cry, be challenged, and to, ultimately, worship Jesus Christ! Catalyst was good. The EBC family sends their staff team to this event every year. I love that you guys love us. I love that you support your staff team as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Then, we rolled back home and had an incredible weekend at Emmanuel. Incredible. The Worship was charged. The challenge, from Luke 12, was intense. Really, I want to use all that God has given me as a stewardship of His. All that I have is His. I want people to see my life and KNOW that God, and not possessions, are my joy and my sustenance. In the land of 'more', may people see in us that Christ is ENOUGH!!
The end of the service was the kicker. Rick felt compelled by God, in response to Carrie's diagnosis and the plethora of hurts around EBC, to sing Tomlin's revision of Amazing Grace. It was beautiful and God took much glory in that moment. Settle your heart in the refrain: My chains are gone, I've been set free. My God, My Savior has rescued me. And like a flood, His mercy rains. Unending love, Amazing grace.
It was in interesting week. Here's what I know: God is faithful and I trust Him. He is good. Here's what I don't know: Why some things happen and what the outcome might be. I just know that I want to assault heaven for the sake of knowing Him and being well known by Him, and watching as He transforms life, mind, heart, and the circumstances of those around me.
I love God! If a small portion of my life can be catalytic in drawing others toward Him, I think that will be good.

When I entered Sunday morning to begin worshiping at 6:30, the Holy Spirit's presence was so 'heavy'. As the Praise Team met to prepare to lead God's children into HIS presence, it was evident that God was going to show up in a big way. And He did...
The attitude of our precious Carrie is a witness to all--trusting though not knowing all the answers. There was a freedom and realness that was so sweet as she and the praise team ran us into the arms of Jesus. I know our prayers went up as a sweet incense into the throne room, and those prayers of God's saints are filling the gold bowls. And the tears we shed in prayer on Carrie's behalf will be kept in barrels, as I believe bottles will be too small :>).
I love it that Jesus lets us get in on what He is doing, as we ask Him in Jesus' name, that name that is above all names, to do what no doctor or medicine can do.
And though we cry out, do we, do I believe? Or do we spend way too much time dwelling on only what our eyes have seen and ears have heard?
In faith...I will trust the only One who is trustworthy...in faith...I will believe for Him to do the miraculous...in faith...I will fast and pray...in faith...I will...believe the "I will" promises of our Savior...I will...
God, we rest in You alone, for You are our Rock and our Salvation, our Stronghold; we will never be shaken.
"You sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow, say this: 'God, You're my refuge. I trust in You and I'm safe.'" Ps. 91:1 The Message
Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our Refuge, our Strong Tower. Stength, power, faithful love, compassion, healing are all found in Him alone. "God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need Him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains. Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, GOD of angel armies protects us." Ps. 46:1-3 The Message
Pastor and staff, I love you and so appreciate you. Thank you for all you do to lead this flock of sheep called EBC into the pastures our Shepherd has prepared and is preparing for us.
Let us put on the full armor for the battle is raging. Let us assault, let us bombard heaven in Jesus' name.
I live along way from EBC. I have never met Carrie, but I've sure heard a lot of wonderful things about her. Please know that we are assaulting the throne of God with prayers for our sister-in-Christ!!! I know that through CHRIST ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!! HE is our: shelter, fortress, strong tower, deliverer, our ever present help in time of need!
It was also an awesome privilege to meet, hang out, and worship with the gang of EBC. Blessing to all you guys and I miss being around you!
From they guy you sometimes call "Chuckie."
